NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) --Hours after Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen stated he plans to push for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, Tennessee Senator Bob Corker questioned the President's "competence" and "stability."
Speaking to local media following a Chattanooga Rotary Club meeting, Corker told reporters with the Chattanooga Times Free Press and Nooga.com "I think that uh, you know, I do think there need to be some radical changes."
Corker was referring to the White House when making the comment. He continued by saying "the President has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability nor some of the competence that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful."
Corker, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee then turned his focus towards Trump's comments in the wake of violence in Virginia. "He has not demonstrated that he understands the character of this nation. He has not demonstrated that he understands what has made this nation great."
The Senator said given the current polarization in the country, Corker hopes the President avoids making comments to generate support from his "political base" and helping "inspire divisions."
