Alma police searching for man who got away during a chase

Alma police continue searching for a man they say led them on a chase earlier this week.

On Tuesday night, police became involved in the pursuit of a man refusing to leave a home on Perkins Street, according to a news release.

Officers say during the chase, 52-year-old Glen Merrill of Alma, abandoned a backpack containing more than 3 ounces of marijuana and 2 packages of crystal methamphetamine.

Merrill managed to get away from officers, the release said.

Police have obtained arrest warrants for Merrill for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
