Chatham Area Transit
Due to continuous hazardous road conditions, CAT services remain suspended on Friday, January 5, 2018. The safety of our customers, employees and citizens remains our top priority. Service will be restored as weather conditions permit.
BankSouth will delay opening today until 12 noon at its 18 West Bryan Street and Stephenson locations.
Savannah Social Security Office
The Savannah Social Security office will be closed until noon on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Georgia Southern University
Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah, Liberty Campus in Hinesville, and Coastal Georgia Center will reopen at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5. Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro Campus and Herty Advanced Materials Development Center reopened at noon on Jan. 4 and will continue normal operations and business hours on Friday.
Live Oak Public Libraries
Live Oak Public Libraries branches in Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties will reopen starting at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018, with the following exceptions:
Tybee Library will reopen at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5
West Broad Library and W.W. Law Library will reopen at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5
Springfield Library will reopen at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 6
Library patrons will not be charged overdue fines during the period of January 3-4, 2018 when the library system was closed due to inclement weather.
Chatham County courts
Chatham County Courts will reopen on Friday, January 5th at noon. Superior Court and Juvenile Court dockets that were scheduled after 12 noon will be heard as scheduled. Judge Abbot status conferences will be rescheduled at a later date. Citizens can call the number on their notice cards or subpoenas if there are any questions.
Bulloch County schools
Due to concern for student safety and extremely poor road conditions in parts of Bulloch County, Superintendent Charles Wilson has cancelled school for students on Friday, Jan. 5. All employees will report for a work day on Friday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Students will return for a normal schedule on Monday, Jan. 8.
Effingham County schools/government
The Effingham County Board of Education has cancelled classes and all school related activities for Friday, January 5. Regular school schedules will resume on Monday, January 8.
• Effingham County Courts will resume Friday, January 5 at 9AM.
• The Effingham County Board of Commissioners offices will open Friday, January 5 at 11AM.
• Government offices for the City of Guyton will resume normal business hours Friday, January 5.
Coastal Health District
Health departments in Camden, Glynn, and McIntosh counties and district offices will open at 8 a.m.
Health departments in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties will open to clients at 1 p.m.
Long County Health Department has not been open on Fridays due to staffing issues and will not open tomorrow.
YMCA of Coastal Georgia
Friday, January 5, 2018:
The following closures and cancellations effecting YMCA of Coastal Georgia operations on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Bryan County: Richmond Hill YMCA will open for regular operating hours. There will be no child watch. Holiday camp will be offered beginning at 7 am. Registration will be first come, first serve.
Bulloch County: The Statesboro Family YMCA will be open for regular operating hours.
All Chatham County YMCA facilities will be open for regular operating hours. (Habersham, Islands, Tybee Island and West Chatham)
Pryme Tyme is cancelled.
Habersham YMCA and West Chatham YMCA Full Day Child Care is closed.
Holiday camp will be available at both Habersham and West Chatham YMCAs with a delayed start time of 9 am. Registration will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Effingham County: The Effingham YMCA will be open for regular operating hours. Y school and Pre-K will be closed.
Child Watch and Holiday camp will be available with a delayed start time of 9 am. Holiday camp registration will be first come, first serve.
Pryme tyme is cancelled.
Glynn County: The Golden Isles YMCA will open for regular operating hours.
The Child Learning Center will be open for regular operating hours.
Liberty County: The Liberty County YMCA will be open for regular operating hours.
AM and PM Pryme Tyme is cancelled.
Holiday camp will be offered starting at 6:30 am. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis.
McIntosh County: The McIntosh YMCA will be for regular operating hours.
University of South Carolina Beaufort
USCB will open at 12 noon on January 5th due to the impacts of inclement weather.
Jasper County schools/government
Jasper County Public Schools are closed until monday. Jasper County Government offices open friday from 12-5pm.
City of Savannah
The City of Savannah will be open for business at Noon on Friday, January 5. The City’s sanitation crews will begin trash collection at 10 a.m. The City is asking residents to please be patient as crews work to get back on schedule. Call 311 to report fallen trees, busted water lines or other non-emergency situations in the City of Savannah. Call 911 to report an emergency.
Chatham County government
Due to icy winter weather conditions, Chatham County offices, Operations, and Courts will reopen on Friday, January 5th at noon. Essential personnel as defined by the Department Head or Elected Official, may be required to report to work before noon and should contact their supervisor for reporting instructions. Additionally, all Detention Center staff are required to report for duty at their normal scheduled time. Those reporting to work should exercise caution when driving as roads may still be frozen.
Savannah Seniors Adult Day Care will not operate Friday, January 5, 2018.
Beaufort County School District
Beaufort County School District school and district office employees will work on a delayed schedule tomorrow (Friday, January 5) with a noon start. Students remain on winter break and will report for classes on Monday, January 8.
Garden City government
City Hall will be open tomorrow at 8:00 with reduced staff. We encourage residents and businesses to call ahead to confirm that your business can be handled by available staff.
Wesley Community Centers of Savannah
Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, Inc. and all programs (including The Lady Bamford Center) will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, January 5, 2018, due to frigid temperatures and winter conditions.
Coastal Cathedral Early Learning Center
Coastal Cathedral Early Education Center will be closed Friday, January 5th due to the ongoing safety concerns in this winter weather.
Savannah Chatham Public Schools
Due to ongoing frigid temperatures forecast tomorrow morning, Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools and facilities will remain closed on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Weather conditions continue to be a safety concern into tomorrow as low temperatures maintain conditions for ice on the roadways. SCCPSS personnel continue to monitor district and school operations closely in preparation for an expected reopening on Monday.
Only designated essential personnel will report as directed by his or her supervisor on Friday.
In addition, the annual Student Success Expo, scheduled to be held this Saturday, January 6th at the Savannah Mall, is being postponed. The rescheduled date will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the same location.
A reminder that the designated second semester make up days on the SCCPSS 2017-18 School Year Calendar are as follows: February 19, 20 and March 26.

City of Hinesville
The City of Hinesville will return to normal operating hours tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 5. We will send out a revised garbage collection schedule as soon as that is determined.
Savannah Technical College
Savannah Technical College has extended its hours on Friday (7:30-5:30 PM) and Saturday (8AM- 3PM) to assist applicants seeking spring semester enrollment. Applicants are encouraged to bring documents and materials to any STC campus on Friday or Saturday. Faculty and staff will be on hand to assist. Monday, January 8 is the first day of the spring semester.
Beaufort Memorial will resume alloutpatient services and reopen clinics in Beaufort, Bluffton and Hampton on Friday, January 5, 2018. Surgery starts will be delayed; patients will receive notifications about their new scheduled arrival time Thursday afternoon or evening.
Inpatient and outpatient surgery cases at the hospital and outpatient cases at the Ambulatory Surgery Center will begin at 8:30 a.m. The following services and clinics will reopen at 8 a.m. tomorrow unless otherwise noted.
