Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a 17-year-old man in connection with a burglary and sexual assault that took place on Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, sometime after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a home on Club Bridge Road on St. Helena Island for reports of a burglary and sexual assault.

Deputies said, upon arrival, the victim said an unknown man had come to her door, asking if she needed yard work done.

The victim said she declined the offer and thought the man had left; however, he later returned and entered the home through an unsecured door.

According to deputies, the suspect then threatened the victim with a gun before sexually assaulting her. The suspect left the home after the assault.

On Wednesday, deputies reported that the suspect had been arrested without incident.

Deputies identified the suspect as Darryl Bradley, a 17-year-old from St. Helena Island.

Bradley has been booked into Beaufort County Detention Center.

He is charged with burglary in the first degree and criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.
