Fort Stewart is planning to hold a power outage exercise to test the city's infrastructure and prepare for severe weather or other events that would require backup power.
The exercise will be from 6-10 a.m. on Friday, June 15.
Housing areas should not experience any loss of power, but if you do, you are asked to contact Fort Stewart public affairs at their Facebook page.
If you see any power lines that have fallen, stay away from them and report them to 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 service will not be disrupted during the exercise.
Organizers say they expect increased emergency vehicle traffic during the exercise.
Drivers are asked to be aware of flashing red traffic signals and should be treated as four-way stops. Stop signs will also be posted at all traffic signals.
All gates will operate their normal hours.
Winn Army Community Hospital will be open during the exercise.
Directorate of Human Resources facilities open at 10 a.m.
All childcare development centers open at their regular time.
Taylors Creek Golf Course will open at its normal time. All other Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities open at 10 a.m.
The Commissary will open at its normal time.
The Marne Express gas station opens at 5 a.m., the Bryan Village Express gas station opens at 7:30 a.m. and all other Exchange facilities open at 11 a.m.
The Spartan and Thunder Cafe dining facilities will have the Army food trucks at their locations from 8-9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch.
