Man charged in murder of 77-year-old Hardeeville man

A man has been charged in the murder of a 77-year-old Hardeeville man.

According to police, Martin Stevens was shot and killed Thursday morning.

According to a news release, an arrest was made in connection with the shooting around 9:25 p.m. Friday with the help of the South East United States Marshal Task Force, Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department, SLED, 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office, and the Hardeeville Police Department.

Police say they arrested Devon Dunham, 30, of Hardeeville. He has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

SCMPD says they found Dunham in a Days Inn on Stephenson Avenue. He was also with another man at the time, 18-year-old Tyreek Lester. Lester was also arrested and charged for illegal posession of a firearm.

Both have been booked into Chatham County Jail.
