On Friday, investigators with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Southside Precinct arrested a woman for pickpocketing.

Detectives say Venice Lipsey targeted an elderly woman on Abercorn Street in April, stole her wallet, and made several purchases using the woman’s credit cards.

Investigators said the arrest came after people provided tips to CrimeStoppers.

“This case is a great example of how information sharing between the public and police can have an effect on crime in our city,” Southside Precinct Investigator Detective Rodney Cooper said. “I’m thankful for the people who were willing to come forward and speak up.”

Lipsey is charged with financial transaction card theft and two counts of financial transaction card fraud.
