SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) - A 16-year-old girl has been missing from Centerville, Iowa since November and officials say she might be in the Savannah area, possibly heading to North Carolina.
Gracie Leigh Toelle, 16, was last seen on Nov. 17, according to Centerville police.
She stands 5'7" tall and weighs about 186 pounds, police say.
She traveled from Iowa to Savannah, based on records for purchases she made in late December and early January, according to Bobbie Cooper, a volunteer with The AWARE Foundation.
Cooper is also the teen's grandmother and says she has run away before and suffers from PTSD and depression.
“This time we don’t know who she’s with and we don’t know what she’s gotten herself in to," Cooper said.
She says Toelle was very active online, but that activity has stopped since she went missing. “I’m sure she’s changed her identity online," Cooper said.
Cooper said she believes that the teen met someone online who helped her run away again.
"We have information that she was headed to Savannah, GA and possibly on to North Carolina," Cooper said.
