Construction on the State Route (SR) 25 Connector will begin Sunday, according to GDOT.

The Reeves Construction Company will be working on a $750,000 milling and resurfacing project, starting at the Bay Street Viaduct on West Bay Street, to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, continuing to Oglethorpe Avenue and ending at the canal bridge at the Talmadge Bridge ramps.

The area covers just under a mile in downtown Savannah.

Nightly milling and asphalt inlay will be done by crews Sundays through Fridays from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Lane closures will be required during that time.

The project should be done by September, weather permitting.

GDOT reminds motorists that, whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; read signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected.
