A "weather incident" caused damage to businesses and property in Northwest Florida. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) tweeted the images Sunday morning.
Power lines and fences were also reportedly damaged. It happened on the Stahlman Avenue corridor between Azalea Drive and Kelly Street in Destin.
Law enforcement not only responded, they helped residents. The agency posted the following message about Lt. Matt Abbott:
Residents on Flamingo drive in Destin say they appreciate the efforts of Lt Matt Abbott! During the bad weather this morning a tree fell, blocking the road. He showed up, borrowed a neighbors chainsaw, then started cutting up the tree and moving it with the help of neighbors.
The OCSO is reporting the damage was caused by either a tornado or straight-line winds. At this time, we have no information on whether the National Weather Service (NWS) is investigating.
No injuries have been reported.
