LANTANA, Fla. (WPEC) - A wrong-way crash and deputy-involved shooting shut down northbound lanes of I-95 for more than 6 hours Wednesday.

Late Wednesday afternoon, PBSO released their narrative of the day's deadly events, which ended with two people dead.

Wednesday morning, deputies originally responded to a shooting on South Dixie Highway in Lake Worth.

There they learned the suspect had shot a woman and put her in her car before fleeing.

PBSO says the man fled the scene, driving the wrong way along I-95 before causing multiple crashes involving 6 vehicles.

He came to a stop at Hypoluxo Road near Lantana, his vehicle on fire.

That is when deputies and FHP attempted to apprehend the suspect, who was not subdued when tasered, according to the narrative.

Viewer Attila Fajta shared this video he captured as he drove by the scene.

As of 11 a.m., deputies advised that I-95 northbound would be closed from Lantana Road to Sixth Avenue for the rest of the day while they investigated.

A photo of the gun used to shoot the woman was released by the sheriff's office.

Fearing for their lives, that is when PBSO says the deputy discharged his weapon.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

PBSO says the woman had to be removed from the vehicle because of the fire. She was also pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness shared his experience with CBS12, telling us the suspect's vehicle came within feet of his on the highway.

I-95 reopened at 4:19 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies believe the suspect was also involved in two additional shootings. Investigators learned the suspect was involved in a West Palm Beach shooting on Tuesday, February 6, in addition to a shooting Wednesday morning in Boynton Beach.

The Boynton Beach shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. on Bentwater Circle, according to Boynton Beach PD.

The victim was a 21-year-old man. He was taken by a friend to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, BBPD said.

This was the second shooting on I-95 Wednesday.
