A former doctor who was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor for a second time was found dead Thursday.

John McGuire, of Biltmore Forest, was arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor in 2012, after his iPad was found in the River Arts District with photos of young girls in suggestive clothing and poses.

According to the search warrant served Tuesday, McGuire was charged with a felony for knowingly possessing material containing a visual representation of two girls, under the age of 10, engaging in sexual activity. He was charged with violating his probation.

McGuire was found dead Thursday afternoon at Asheville Regional Airport. Officials said airport police responded to a call at Signature Flight Support, where McGuire was found. McGuire, who leased a hangar at Signature, was discovered in his hangar with an apparent fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials said no other information was available.
