SAN ANTONIO -- Police are searching for two suspects after a woman was shot in the head outside a South Side gym early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to Southwest General Hospital on 7400 Barlite in connection with a shooting victim around 4:40 a.m. Thursday. When the officers arrived, they learned that the victim, 21-year-old Elissa Sanchez had been transported to the hospital by another victim, 23-year-old Vicente Cuellar, who left before the officers arrived.

Police say Sanchez had suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of her head, was listed in stable condition and was talking to hospital staff. She was then taken to University Hospital for further treatment.

Officers were able to locate the victims' car and found damage that appeared to have been caused by a firearm. According to police, the shooting took place at a gym which investigators believe is near East Southcross and South Flores. They say two suspects approached Cuellar, who was driving Sanchez's vehicle and an argument started. A police report states one of the suspects then shot at Cuellar and Sanchez, striking Sanchez in the head.
