Briana Trusty has always had a passion for storytelling. Although she was born in Maryland, she grew up in the Midwest just north of Indianapolis. That is where she got her first taste of broadcast journalism, in high school, as an integral part of her school’s daily, live newscast.
Prior to joining the FOX 28 news team in February 2018, Briana was an anchor, reporter and producer for Carolina News, the student-run news station at the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!). During her time at Carolina News, she covered a number of stories of both local and national significance.
Briana has had the opportunity to work in print, digital and broadcast journalism over the course of her brief career. As a freshman at the University of South Carolina, she had the opportunity to work for Latina Magazine as a contributing writer. There, she worked several celebrity events and wrote a feature article for Latina.com about two New York City ballet dancers. After returning to school, she became the subject of a feature story herself when she was interviewed for a piece about minority career prospects after college by WLTX, a CBS-affiliate in Columbia, South Carolina.
Her first formal news broadcasting experience came as an intern her sophomore year- shooting, producing and editing segments for Columbia’s Fox-affiliate, WACH. At WACH, she enjoyed working on special lifestyle segments like “Food Friday.”
She turned her attention to the entertainment industry for a while when she interned at E! News in Los Angeles, California during the summer of 2017. She focused on celebrity lifestyle stories and field produced a weekly lifestyle segment alongside Emmy Award-winning E! News host, Zuri Hall.
Briana welcomes the opportunity to return to stories that are impacting the community. She looks forward to not only getting to know the people of Savannah, but also making an impact on the news scene of this beautiful, historic city.
When she’s not digging for new stories, Briana loves to dance and travel and cannot wait to add a puppy to her new home in Savannah. If you have any story ideas, Briana would love to hear them. Please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
