On Tuesday, the first of two “healthy hub” sites were unveiled at Mayer Park.

It’s a place to go to for resources that promote better health for all.

When you visit the hub you can take or add items like books or canned food and other health resources.

The project originated with nine SCAD students in their Sustainable Practices in Design class.

Prof.  Scott Boylston said it was a ten-week quarter, and his students worked directly with the community and Healthy Savannah.

“We learned about health and wellness for low wealth communities in Savannah, about the CDC reach grant and about the opportunities to help the community grow by empowering themselves," Boylston said.

Professor Boylston was able to fine-tune the design after the course ended, which led to Tuesday's reveal.
