WASHINGTON (WENN/Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Actress Robin Wright's role as America's devious First Lady Claire Underwood on political drama "House of Cards" did not prepare her for Donald Trump's presidency.

The 51-year-old admits she is repeatedly shocked by the actions of the controversial leader.

"You’d think after five years of doing this show, I’d be immune to the shock," she said. "I’m shocked every morning I wake up, aren’t you? It’s just pulverizing. Trump is trumping us. We’re running out of ideas at this point. He’s stolen them all."

The Associated Press reported earlier this month that Wright's co-star Kevin Spacey, who plays President Francis J. Underwood, said, "This year, in particular, there's been a lot of commentary about how we can't compete in the real world, so it's not going to be as interesting and the show can't possibly be as crazy as the real world. And my answer to that is, just you wait. Just you wait."

Season five of the Netflix original series premieres May 30.
