The Hilton Head Wine and Food Festival has announced its calendar of events for its 33rd year.
The festival, sponsored by popular supermarket chain Publix, will take place Thursday, March 8 through Sunday, March 11.
Guests can enjoy many specialty events that will help to provide scholarships for local college students interested in pursuing careers in the food and beverage or hospitality industries, according to a news release.
According to the release, more than $54,000 in scholarships have been given in the past five years from the festival's John & Valerie Curry Educational Scholarship Fund.
The festival started off as a small, 3-hour wine tasting in a parking lot, but has now become Hilton Head's premier wine event that draws many to the island.
According to the release, many visitors come from outside the area for the event, "many citing the wonderful selection of wines, Southern hospitality, charm of The Sea Pines Resort, and variety of events offered as major reasons why they return year after year."
The Festival kicks off with wine dinners at various restaurants throughout the island.
On Thursday, the first day of the festival, three events will be featured:
- Lowcountry Seafood Cooking Class and Lunch with Executive Chef of The Sea Pines Resort, Matthew Roher
- A Comparison Of “Burgundies” From France and Oregon with Scott Cohen, President of Grapevine for North Carolina and South Carolina
- Sip & Stroll throughout beautiful Harbour Town.
The week continues with Blends Around The World with Tom Hines of Trinchero Family Estates, and the Grand Tasting event on Friday, March 9.
The final two days will feature the Public Tasting on Saturday, March 10 and the celebratory Southern Fried Chicken Brunch on Sunday, March 11.
