BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTGS) — The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has arrested Michael "Big Mike" Brown, 37, for selling and distributing heroin-- some of it within half a mile of a park.
Deputies say Brown was out on bond for a June 2018 arrest for heroin and crack cocaine charges. They got a tip that he was selling drugs again and got a search warrant for his apartment at Cotton Hope on Hilton Head Island.
He was arrested in his apartment Wednesday afternoon and was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
Investigators say in the apartment they recovered a large amount of heroin and powder cocaine, as well as a small amount of marijuana and some pills that are being analyzed by the Sheriff's Office lab.
Brown faces four criminal drug counts and remains in the county jail. He could face more charges once investigators know what the pills found inside his apartment are.
