New electric bus to shadow Chatham Area Transit
Chatham Area Transit (CAT) will start a four-day demonstration of an electric bus starting on Monday.
The Proterra Catalyst electric bus will be on loan to CAT and will hold up to 40 passengers. It can travel more than three hours on a single charge and can recharge in less than 10 minutes.
Proterra said it’s electric bus has zero emissions, reduced noise inside and outside the bus, and low operation and maintenance costs.
The demonstration will start on Monday and will shadow selected CAT routes until Thursday, August 2.
The bus will be open for tours to everyone at the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Center on August 1.
