Rape Crisis Center to host 9th Annual Reindeer Run

    The Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire will host the 9th Annual Savannah Reindeer Run 8K and Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 15th at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

    The Reindeer Run, called one of Savannah's best family-oriented run events, will kick off with a kiddie race at 8:45 a.m. followed by the 8K at 9 a.m.

    Inside the convention center, families can enjoy a kid zone, a cookie contest featuring Kitchen Vixen, food and beverages plus a visit from Santa himself.

    Runners are also encouraged to dress up as their favorite holiday characters for a chance to gift cards from Collins Quarter, Crystal Beer Parlor and other great prizes.

    Each year, the race hosts several celebrity runners who are challenged to raise money ahead of the race. This year's goal: $1,000. This year's celebrity runners are Jodie’s House of Pain, Ashley Border, Stacey Young – Teacher at St. Andrew’s School, Ciara Lucas – WJCL, Detective Sean Organ, Linda Wilder-Bryan, Tawana Garrett and Sergeant Tiffany Manuel. there are also three junior celebrity runners: Dekevian George – SCCPSS Student, Milan and Maxum Iezzi both students at St. Andrew’s School.

    Proceeds from the race will support the Prevention Education program at the Rape Crisis Center, which offers healthy relationship resources and training for local schools, colleges and organizations, including Safe, Smarter Kids!, Bullying Prevention, Safe Dates, and Sexual Harassment curriculum.

    You still have time to register for the Reindeer Run for $35 until Dec. 15. Entry will cost $40 the day of the race and registration for kids ages 12-17 is $10.
