'Red, White & Blues' BBQ to honor fallen first responders
The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire is holding their annual Red, White & Blues Barbecue on Friday in Ellis Square.
The event is to honor fallen first responders and organizers said all of the proceeds will go to the families of the fallen.
There will be live music from Bottle & Cans, Keith & Ross and Junk Yard Angel.
Organizers said there will be plenty of food. For a $10 donation you can get bratwursts, or hot dogs for $5. There will also be ice cream from Leopold's.
In addition, there will be interactive displays to see what a day in the life of a first responder is like and a memorial will be set up to remember all of the fallen heroes.
President of the 200 Club, Mark Dana, said he wants everyone to come out to honor those who protect and serve.
“Anybody working downtown or visiting, come on down to Ellis Square. It’s so important that we keep doing this because more and more we see throughout the country the exposure to danger that not only our police officers have, but also those working in fire services,” said Dana.
Dana said an event like this can raise up to $25,000.
The fundraiser will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m in Ellis Square on Oct. 19.
