Savannah, Ga. (WTGS) — The Coast Plain League has awarded the Savannah Bananas the 2019 CPL All-Star Showdown, a first for historic Grayson Stadium.
The 21st Annual All-Star event will be played next summer on Sunday, July 7 and Monday, July 8.
“We are excited to announce our Coastal Plain League All-Star event will be hosted by the Savannah Bananas in 2019,” said CPL COO/Commissioner Justin Sellers. “The Savannah community has been very supportive since we expanded there in 2016 and we know they will be pumped to attend our premier event this summer.”
Team officials say they'll announce the full format of the event on Dec. 15 during the Bananas Christmas Party at Grayson Stadium.
“This will be unlike any All-Star event fans have ever seen,” said Bananas owner Jesse Cole. “We are breaking away from the traditional format and making it a two-day event of non-stop action, entertainment and showmanship.”
Current 2019 Bananas ticket package holders will get first access to the ticket options for the All-Star Showdown.
Team officials say anyone will have to get on a priority waiting list for a chance to buy any remaining individual regular season games or seats to the CPL All-Star Showdown.
The Bananas have been hugely successful since they started playing at Grayson Stadium two years ago. They currently hold a 60-game sellout streak.
