Savannah PD responds to early morning shooting

The Savannah Police Department responded to an early morning shooting Sunday in the 100 block of East 40th Street.

Police say when they arrived on scene they discovered two male victims. One of the men, Matthew Kimble, 33, was suffering from a gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation revealed Kimble and Matthew Cesaretti, also 33, were outside the residence when an unknown man approached with a firearm.

Police say this was an attempted armed robbery, the gunman began shooting striking Kimble who is listed in critical condition. Cesaretti suffered a laceration.

The gunman was last seen running from the scene on Abercorn Street.
