SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS FOX 28) -- The City of Savannah will be the first to host the 1000 Lights water lantern festival in the State of Georgia!
These popular events have been held by the company along the west coast, and now they are bringing it to Lake Mayer Park in Savannah.
The festival will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 and boasts thousands of attendees launching lanterns just after dusk.
All ages are welcome to participate- some will write their hopes and wishes and others will commemorate loved ones who have passed.
"One of my favorite parts of my job is seeing families and friends enjoy quality time and creating incredible memories that they will remember for a long time," said 1000 Lights Event Creative Zach Wertz.
Event staff will prepare all of the packages for attendees prior to the event to make sure there is a quick and seamless transition through check-in to enjoying the event.
Organizers say the evening will include live music, food trucks and local vendors, bingo prizes and field games.
Children ages 9 and under can enter the event for free.
