Shamrock Run to cause downtown traffic, road closures

The 26th Annual March of Dimes Shamrock Run 5k will impact downtown traffic the evening of Friday, March 9, according to a news release.

The festivities will start at 5 p.m. in Ellis Square and the race will take place at 6 p.m.

Ellis Square will be closed to traffic from 4:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Johnson, Wright, Chippewa, Madison and Monterey squares along with Forsyth Park will be closed to traffic from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

The city of Savannah encourages residents to avoid streets North of Park Avenue between Jefferson Street and Drayton Street during the time of the race.

Traffic should be back to normal by 9 p.m.
