The Grey opening a downtown lunch counter/market
The popular and award winning Grey restaurant is expanding, just down the road.
The owners are planning to open a new business on Jefferson Street, just south of Broughton.
It will be called the Grey Market and they describe it as "port city southern lunch counter meets urban grocery".
The new market is expected to open in October.
The award winning Grey restaurant has been open for four years with nationally recognized chef Mashama Bailey.
In a blog on the restaurant's website, owner John Morisano says there will be seats at the lunch counter and will offer a unique takeout menu. "Our goal is to tear a playful page from Mashama’s recipe book and create a space that becomes a regular stop for breakfast, lunch, early dinner, snacks, takeaway, sundries, mementos or to grab a quick drink in a unique and welcoming space."
The new downtown option will also have a baker creating fresh baked goods, rotisserie chicken after 4 p.m. and morisano says they'll also offer catering.
