According to the National Retail Federation, more than 160 million people are expected to take part in Black Friday deals this holiday season. Those deals drew out thousands Friday in our area.

While some people might not have wanted to brave the cold or come out and stand in long lines behind barricades early Friday morning, but by mid-morning and early afternoon locals were out searching for deals.

“We’re looking for sales, sales, sales," said Kathy Smith, a Black Friday shopper.

The Best Buy on Abercorn Street saw packed parking lots and large crowds.

Many went through Best Buy's doors Friday morning, but very few came out empty-handed.

Television seemed to be on of the store's most popular items.

“I went in there and found the TV that I wanted," said Smith.

“I’m trying to get a TV actually," said Theresa Richtman, another shopper.

People were lined up at the location Thursday afternoon to be the first inside, but some shoppers didn't feel the need. They said you just need to know what you're looking for.

“We know how to search out the deals," said Kirsten Kearse, Smith's daughter. “Exactly. We do this every year, it’s a mother daughter tradition.”

While for some Best Buy was a one-stop shop, for others it was just a warm-up.

“Oh no, we’re just getting started. We have to go to the mall, the outlet, everything," said Kearse. "We got our comfy shoes on so we’re ready.”

Black Friday might be coming to an end, but you're sure to find more great deals throughout the weekend with Small Business Saturday.
