Three charged in series of entering auto crimes in Bulloch County
Three people have been charged in connection to a series of entering autos and related crimes, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say those crimes have been happening in Bulloch County since May 31 or earlier.
Crime Suppression Sergeant Jim Riggs intervened in one of those entering auto attempts Tuesday morning around 4:29 a.m. in the Glen Oakes Neighborhood.
Riggs alerted other deputies, who surrounded the area looking for the suspects.
Jaleon Deondre Harden, 17, of Portal, Ga., was arrested in the Glen Oaks subdivision.
Artavious Shavar Thomas, 18, also of Portal, stole a resident's vehicle and fled, but was quickly located after he crashed the vehicle on Highway 80 west following a short pursuit. He was immediately taken into custody.
Investigators are still seeking a third suspect, who they believe fled on foot.
Both Harden and Thomas have been charged with multiple entering autos charges, weapons charges and criminal gang activity. Thomas was additionally charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
In addition, Mikaya Michelle Oneal, 20, of Statesboro, Ga., was also charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
Sheriff Brown commended the quick response of deputies and would also like to thank the Statesboro Police Department for their assistance.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges will be forthcoming.
