Veterans are being honored across the nation and several local groups are taking the time to show their appreciation for our nation's heroes over the next few days.

Friday, Nov. 10

Vietnam Veterans of American, Savannah chapter 671, hosting a Veterans Day program honoring all veterans. Emmet Park, 4089 E. Bay St, 6-7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov 11

Veterans Day for Children - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11. National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, 175 Bourne Ave., Pooler. Veteran’s Day for children ages 6-12 will feature lunch, snacks and drinks. Cost is $30. Call 912-988-1832

Beaufort Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony - The Beaufort County Department of Veterans Affairs and the Beaufort Veterans Day Planning Committee is hosting the 2017 Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony on Saturday, November 11. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. and follow a route through downtown Beaufort, beginning at Rodgers Street and Boundary Street, by the Beaufort National Cemetery. Savannah Veterans Day Parade - The 2017 Veterans Day Parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. The parade begins at Gaston and Abercorn streets then disbands at Broughton and Price streets. Details of the route and other important information can be found on the SCMPD website. Bluffton Veterans Day Parade - Dennis J. Becker American Legion Post 205 is sponsoring its Annual Veterans Day Parade in Bluffton, Sat, Nov 11, 2017 starting at 10 a.m. For information contact Mike Miranda 843-304-1514.

Armistice Day Ceremony - 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 11. Chippewa Square, Bull and McDonough streets. Veterans for Peace Savannah Chapter 170 hosts this free commemoration. Learn more here.
