With widespread flu, cell phones possible culprit
The flu is continuing to run rampant throughout the nation.
Doctors recommend getting the flu shot, but there are additional ways to protect yourself.
U.S. Cellular says your phone could be a major culprit.
The business suggests washing your hands regularly, routinely using disinfectants to clean devices, using antibiotic putty for hard to reach crevices and avoiding using your phone while in the bathroom.
The report also said phones carry 10 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.
One study claimed 61 percent of people use their phone in the restroom, which can carry all types of other germs.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 80,000 people have been infected with the illness in Missouri so far this season.
The CDC is labeling it an epidemic, widespread in 48 states and Puerto Rico.
